We started from Kakuozan (Nagoya), by car. We took the highway, and parked our car at the Kawashi Parking (川島PA). We then entered the park via the "Highway Entrance" of Oasis Park. You should be able to see something like this from the car park:
We then took a look around Oasis Park, and found this big and interesting climbing-sliding complex! It seems that, during summer, the floor is full of water so that children can splash and run in the water! I should check it out again in summer 2021.
Not so far from the climbing complex, we found this water fountain where Makoto enjoyed so much! She splash the water, ran inside the fountain, got super wet, and had so much fun!! (Luckily I brought her clothes to change!!!)
A little bit further away, there was a beautiful garden along a river. The atmosphere was really romantic and clam. Perfect for taking a relaxing walk. If we continued to go straight, we would arrive to the aquarium and Ferris Wheel. They are very famous attractions, and seem to have pretty good reviews! We really wanted to visit them but we did not have enough time as the sun sets quite early in autumn (the sky got dark at around 17:15). Therefore, we went to the Eco Water Park instead. We will definitely go to the aquarium and Ferris Wheel next time!
Eco Water Park is just next to Oasis Park. Here is the view of the entrance. I thought I was in Cambridge! Before the coronavirus pandemic, visitors could ride wooden boats on this river. I hope this attraction can resume to work soon. I really want to ride boat with Makoto. I am sure she will sing "Row row row your boat" during the boat trip, ha-ha!
There are ducks on the river. Makoto was so excited to see so many of them!
Suddenly, Makoto found a long wheat. I wondered where she found it because there was no wheat in the park at all... Hmmm.....?! But she had so much fun playing with the wheat! It was her first time to play with wheat because we had no such thing in Nagoya's parks.
While Makoto was playing with the wheat, dancing and running around, I decided to lay down on the grass and had a little rest... and then Makoto ran and jumped on me! Ouch!
The view of the park was really beautiful. You have to go there and see it with your own eyes. Photos cannot reflect the beauty and open space at all. The sounds of the running river, swimming ducks, singing birds make the landscape a lot of more beautiful and Narnia-like.
We continued to wandered around and suddenly Makoto found a long stairway. I did not know where it would lead us and it seemed that no one was going that way so I asked Makoto what we should do with it. Makoto said she really wanted to go and checked it out. Thus, we climbed up the stairs together, and then on the top of the stairway....
WOW! (again, you HAVE TO be there in person, and see it with your own eyes)
Spectacular!
The view was amazing! The sounds of the wind, the birds, the moving grass, and the running river, together with the autumn breeze, the warm sunshine.... oh dear lord I wish I could be in that moment for ever. Haven't seen such beautiful view for a long long time....
This river is called Kiso River (木曽川, Kiso-gawa), which flows through the prefectures of Nagano, Gifu, Aichi, and Mie before emptying into Ise Bay.
Makoto found a lot of stones. She started to concentrate on playing with the stones, totally ignoring my existence.
Caught the moment when she threw a stone! A-ha!
Now, I knew the reason why Makoto found a wheat in the park. There were wheat fields in this area! Look at the wheat behind Makoto!
After spending around 30 minuets playing in this area. We went back to the grass field. We then found this little wooden house called Nature Discovery House (自然発見館). We learned about the creatures who live in the Kiso River.
We continued walking in Eco Water Park. Makoto enjoyed walking on this wooden bridge so much because when she stepped on it, it made the "bom bom" sound.
Makoto stopped and checked on some fishes on the wooden bridge.
We continued to walk, looking at beautiful views that nature generously gave us.
In the middle of the park, we found a small and calm brook. Makoto could not wait to play with the stones and water!
Immediately, she took off her shoes and put her legs into the water, and started to splash!!
After spending about 30 minutes playing with the brook, she changed her clothes for the second time... ha-ha!! So much water playing in this park! Perfect for kids!!
All in all, I think this Oasis Park and Water Eco Park are ideal for a family day trip in spring, summer, and autumn. Both adults and kids can play with, and explore nature together - grass, trees, flowers, bugs, rivers, stones, ducks, fishes, etc. Families can also bring their own food and tents, and have a picnic on the huge grass field.
Just remember to bring extra clothes because there are water fountains and rivers to play with, and children will definitely get so wet!!
We enjoyed so much our day there! We spent 4.5 hours but it was absolutely not enough! We did not want to leave at all but the sky was getting dark and the weather was getting colder and colder so we had to go back home. We will definitely go there again soon!! There are still many spots and attractions which we haven't explored!
